Our Story
Our story starts in the 1980's (queue "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, don your 3-D glasses, and grow an awesome 'stache). It was amidst the shuffle from disco to pop that the "fire" of Red Bomb began to smolder. In the early 80's, our family patriarch's love of fireworks was officially ignited. After receiving training in Display Fireworks from the Federal Government of Canada, the stage was set for things to explode!
1980s - 1990s
Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, our family continued to ignite professional fireworks displays throughout Canada’s Prairie Region. Ranging in size from small village to large city, we professionally choreographed and fired everything from big to small.
Late 1990s
By the late 1990’s the second generation of our family had black powder running though our veins. While we continued to assist in the ignition of professional shows, change was looming. Federal regulations pertaining to the sale of Family Fireworks in Canada were set for a major overhaul – under revised regulations, new products would be allowed into Canada and retail prices were set to drastically decrease. Put bluntly, we believed that the Family Fireworks business was at a flash-point… and things were primed for ignition!
Recognizing the coming shift in fireworks demand, our family decided to become the Family Fireworks experts in Canada, leaving professional display fireworks in a cloud of smoke. Our transition to Family Fireworks started with a small, seasonal fireworks stand on the way to Grand Beach, Manitoba.
2004
In 2004, we moved into a 10,000 square foot warehouse complex in Selkirk, Manitoba. The extra space allowed us to launch Canada’s first online Fireworks Superstore. We supplemented our online presence with an additional seasonal fireworks stand in Dufresne, Manitoba in 2006, and a permanent bricks-and-mortar store in Selkirk, Manitoba in 2007.
2009
By 2009, it was obvious that we were rapidly outgrowing our existing facilities in Selkirk This encouraged us to relocate to our present home-base at 609 Greenwood Avenue in Selkirk, Manitoba. Since this time, we’ve grown our multi-structure Distribution Campus to nearly 75,000 square feet of space, located on upwards of 20 acres of federally-licensed land. We’re able to serve all regions of Canada within one business-week through redbomb.com, and today, we proudly operate five Red Bomb Fireworks stores in Manitoba: Selkirk, Winnipeg, Bird’s Hill, St. Andrews, and Dufresne.
Present Day
We’re also still family owned and operated. While it’s true that our family has expanded since inception, we still stick true to our original roots: the best Family Fireworks products in Canada, at the best prices, while providing unparalleled service! That’s why Red Bomb continues to be "Canada’s Family Fireworks Company™"!
